"What's the weather going to be like?"
With the Bramhaputra on one side, rolling plains all around, and several lakes within its boundaries, the IIT Guwahati campus is often compared to a holiday resort. And why not? Well, the first week of September is usually warm and slightly humid, with temperatures hovering around the 26-30 degree range. The precipitation, at best, is in the form of mild, sporadic showers, which are quite welcome. The evenings are cool, with a gentle breeze, and provide the best ambience whilst you wander around on the campus. Our tip: You should climb up to the 'Hill-top' and enjoy the view.
All-in-all, the weather's going to be pristine. Think of Techniche as the perfect excuse to get away from home.
"I will be participating in Prometheus X. But, is there anything that can keep me occupied when my event is not on?"
We believe that sitting idle is a crime, and we can't let you commit it, can we? Aside from your chosen event, there is a whole module of On-the-spot events, Rush Hour, to keep you on your toes. There are Workshops, Exhibitions, and Lectures that Techniche will organise for you. In fact, Techniche'10 will also host lectures by Nobel Laureates. Then again, if you simply want to chill out, there's always Fun-Niche. In the evenings, we have the After-the-Sunset Module, with Quizzes, Pro-nites, and the gaming event, Virtual Arena, among others. Browse through our website for more!
And yes, in the imaginary case that you do have time to spare, you have the most amazing campus waiting to be explored!
"Why would you recommend me to participate in Techniche?" OR "Can you give me a reason why i should travel all the way from home to participate in Techniche'10?"
Well, after the absolutely jubilant decade edition of Techniche held in 2009, Techiniche’10 shall witness massive growth both in terms of excellence and enthrallment. At the very outset it promises to be packed with a plethora of brilliant events, meticulous Workshops , extravagant lectures by eminent personalities and exciting nights with distinguished performers. Alongside we have an amazing Lecture Series, a host of workshops, and organised a national level debating competition. Technothlon has been bolstered, so much so, it now includes an All-India round of qualifications, with an immense figure of over a lakh school students competing for the much coveted participation. Robotics module has entered into a new dimension altogether, with manual, semi-autonomous, autonomous, IC engine events all wrapped up together soliciting a vast multitude of participation. Alongside the debutants, several established events have donned new attire.

"My parents might not allow me to come to Guwahati. They say that it's not safe. What do i do?"
The IIT Guwahati campus is situated in Amingaon, on the opposite bank of the Bramhaputra, about 25 km from the heart of the city. No untoward event has ever been recorded on, or around, the IIT Guwahati campus. Also, i would like to clarify that the city of Guwahati, itself, is quite safe, and people have a misconception that all mis-events occur in this city. The IIT-G campus in itself is home to some 4000 people, including students, staff and faculty, some who have been living here for the past 10 years, which is proof enough about the safety of the campus.
Do ask your parents to get in touch with us if you are still unsure about anything.
